With just over 95,000 miles, this Murano is well within the expected lifespan of a well-maintained example of this model. Nissan's V6-powered crossovers are known for going well past the 150,000-mile mark with proper care, so there's real value left in this vehicle. 2016 Nissan Murano Performance and Engine

V6 Power Meets Smooth CVT Delivery

Under the hood, this 2016 Murano is powered by Nissan's proven 3.5-liter V6 engine, producing 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. Paired with Nissan's Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), power delivery is seamless and fuel efficiency is genuinely impressive for a midsize SUV — expect around 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway under normal driving conditions. The front-wheel drive configuration keeps the drivetrain simple and dependable, making this an excellent choice for year-round driving in Kern County's climate. Whether you're merging onto Highway 99 or navigating surface streets around Bakersfield, the Murano's power-to-weight balance makes it feel confident and unhurried.

Nissan Murano SV Features and Interior

A Cabin That Feels More Expensive Than It Is

The Murano SV trim level was designed to give buyers a noticeably elevated experience over base models. Inside, you'll find a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and a premium Bose audio system that transforms every drive into a more enjoyable one. The touchscreen infotainment interface supports Bluetooth connectivity, hands-free calling, and audio streaming — keeping you connected without distraction. The cabin itself is spacious and well-laid-out, with rear passengers enjoying generous legroom and cargo space that makes this Murano genuinely practical for families and active lifestyles alike. The panoramic sunroof — a standout feature on SV-equipped Muranos — floods the interior with natural light and adds an open, airy feel that buyers immediately notice.

Nissan Murano Reliability and Ownership

What Owners and Industry Experts Say

The third-generation Nissan Murano, which debuted in 2015, received high marks from both automotive critics and long-term owners for its build quality and ride comfort. J.D. Power gave the 2016 Murano strong reliability scores, and the 3.5-liter V6 engine used in this vehicle has appeared across multiple Nissan and Infiniti platforms for years — a sign of a mature, well-understood powertrain. Common owner praise centers on the quiet cabin, the smooth CVT, and the comfortable suspension tuning. The Xtronic CVT does require fluid maintenance at regular intervals, so buyers should verify that service history when possible. Overall, the 2016 Murano is regarded as one of the more reliable options in the used midsize SUV market, making it a smart buy for Bakersfield drivers who want dependability without drama.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 2016 Nissan Murano a good buy?

Yes — the 2016 Nissan Murano consistently ranks as one of the better used midsize SUV options available. Its 3.5-liter V6 engine is well-proven, the interior quality is above average for its segment, and long-term reliability scores are strong. For buyers in Bakersfield looking for a blend of comfort, style, and value, it's a compelling choice.

How many miles is too many on a 2016 Nissan Murano?

With proper maintenance, a 2016 Murano can realistically reach 200,000 miles or more. At 95,039 miles, this vehicle is roughly at the halfway point of its usable life — meaning there's still years of solid service ahead. The key factors are transmission fluid changes, oil change history, and how the vehicle was driven.

What does the Nissan Murano SV trim include?

The SV trim adds meaningful upgrades over the base S, including dual-zone automatic climate control, a Bose premium audio system, a panoramic moonroof, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. It strikes a balance between value and comfort that makes it the most popular Murano trim level among used car shoppers.

Is front-wheel drive enough on a Nissan Murano?

For most drivers in the Bakersfield and Kern County area, front-wheel drive on the Murano is more than adequate. The region's dry climate and mostly flat terrain make AWD largely unnecessary, and FWD helps keep long-term ownership costs lower. The Murano's weight distribution and suspension tuning make it feel balanced and planted on both city streets and highways.

What is the fuel economy on a 2016 Nissan Murano V6?

The 2016 Murano with the 3.5-liter V6 and Xtronic CVT is EPA-rated at approximately 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway in FWD configuration. For a midsize SUV with 260 horsepower, that's a respectable and genuinely achievable figure in real-world driving.
